In Brief
A gorgeous fairytale of considerable charm by writer Truman Capote. A young New York writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard) moves into a flat and meets the extraordinary Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) who has a highly glamourous social and emotional life. Holly is a party girl whose intensely stylish façade masks an inner despair and a hidden past. Henry Mancini provides the musical score, with the Oscar-winning ballad 'Moon River' underscoring a sublimely romantic climax.Reviews or Comments (1) See all»
Maybe I have a rather well developed feminine side but for me this film is one of the all time greats, along side Shawshank, Pulp fiction, Citizen Cain, The Godfather and Psycho.
The shocking thing about the this film is that it is 50 years old and still Holly Golightly looks and is a very modern icon. From the costume, style or to the set design, this movie is a feast for the eyes. Holly may not be the proto feminist model for the sixties but she is a hugely engaging and rounded character that is cinematic gold.
If you want to give your girl a good time for two hours without resorting to the littleman… stick her in front of this film.
